Bio
A native of Richmond, VA, and a graduate of the University of Virginia, I moved to the San Jose, CA, in the summer of 2010 to pursue an opportunity with AmeriCorps VISTA. Over the past decade I have had the opportunity to provide front-line outreach in some of the country’s largest homeless encampments, manage a growing nonprofit, and serve in an executive-level position in local government overseeing homelessness and affordable housing policy.
During this period I also had the opportunity to co-lead a Harvard-recognized employee culture program focused on establishing and embedding new organizational guiding principles, increasing cross-departmental teaming, and utilizing human-centered design to redesign city services.
I currently live in Richmond, CA with my partner Joanne and daughter Lucy June. When I am not enjoying every minute of being a new dad, I am dreaming of getting back into the wilderness of the High Sierras.
